day 2 of this one
remembering where i come from
I come from a cold, white land
with its fierce beauty and harsh hands
molding me in ways visible
and invisible
I come from a people who have survived
who have turned the cold winter
into a place of laughter
and bittersweet knowings
I come from fighters
who have grown an impenetrable skin
but within harbor a warm flame
blazing constant
if you find your way in, you’re in forever
We’ve come to thrive in our place of weakness
we shine iridescent when we fight
my tribe
covered in the scars and markings of past victories
I come from a place of woven mysteries
where you must search if you want to find
where you trek for what seems like millenia
through cold, ice mountains
and heavy white forests
following a beckoning voice from the hidden
the sound of ancient rumblings
I come from a place of music and gold
and the unshakeable foundations of the earth
a spout of creation from the beginning of time
buried under eras and epochs
slowly being uncovered

another painting for a newlywed couple
True story
“…A ruthless wolf spotted a lone sheep.
He hunted her down, tricked her, then tore her heart out…
And as she lay bleeding alone on the ground with her insides exposed, she promised herself that she would never hurt like this again…
So she stood up and conquered that thing which conquered her,
then wore him as a trophy..”
